What makes you think
anyone is going to wake up? The first post on this thread was someone blaming U.S. foreign policy for a collapsing bridge.

The answer to this will be the same that it always is. We need to tax people more and give the money to corrupt politicians who will then spend it on welfare payments to buy votes.

If we didn't learn the lesson when the levees in New Orleans broke for precisely the same reason, what makes you think a collapsing bridge will make a difference?

What will happen now is that people will spend 5 years agonizing over what kind of memorial to put in place and then another five years doing environmental impact studies about some stupid little fish no one ever heard of and eventually determine that it would cause the end of life as we know it to rebuild the bridge.
