Price is the problem
$35K for a car that only goes 100 miles is unacceptable; the market will reject it out of hand. A fully loaded Prius is about $25K and could go more than 100 miles on battery power alone if on-board computers allowed it to, so $35K for a no-name brand is absurd.

What we NEED is a Prius that we can plug in to charge overnight when we can, AND the Prius needs to be configured to NOT run the gasoline engine until the battery falls below a certain charge level, say 20%. I commute 100 miles every weekday and would buy a Prius in a HEARTBEAT if it had these 2 features. I know there are conversion kits on the market to address both of these problems, but I would much rather these features be integrated into the overall design from the ground up.

As for the dirt bike, it's a cute idea but completely uninteresting to me. And I've seen WAY too many fatal or debilitating motorcycle wreck victims in my life to even remotely consider a motorcycle for commuting. And before someone says "duh, you can get killed in a car too", yeah I know that, but chances of being hit, killed, or brain damaged on a motorcycle are many X higher on a motorcycle relative to a car.

Bottom line: Fix the Prius and they will come.
