Not in my backyard?
What everyone insists on ignoring is that while it's not emitting gases right there, a few hundred miles away, there's a buttload of fossil fuel being burned, and even more of it used for that the energy has to be converted more than it would with direct/immediate use as fossil fuel in the bike or car. Add the batteries to that, and you've got a worse situation.

Electric vehicles will only be Green when the electricity comes from solar and wind (and other non-polluting technologies.) Meanwhile, it's just another case of "Not in my backyard."
