True Free markets never work
I guess the author of this story does not really understand history. Truily free markets never work. You will always need some regulation. Now the argument can be made that the FCC needs to be reformed or the sturcture changed. That is an argument that is worth having but having companies with the most money make up their own rules, would lead to inflated costs lack of consumer protections, lack of access by small groups, interference with military, police, fire, and rescue radio bands. One company could change standards and make consumers buy their radios that pickup only their stations. (you can make the arguement about sat. radio being this way but it is also a regulated spectrum.) In the end you will end up regulating the industry again because nothing with structure will last.
