nice, but...
there are a few problems, that they don't consider. While things liek RAW and a few features can be done in software, everything else will add more cost and space. Bigger frame buffers probably won't add too much space, but i understand the high speed ram isn't cheap.

Also.. a bigger sensor adds whole new issues to deal with. It will require more power, thus faster battery drain. It will also make for a bigger camera... and most importantly, the lens optics have to be changed entirely. having an APS sized sensor, means you will have to have much bigger lens elements to resolve an image of the same size... so you just might have a compact body with a SLR sized lens...

I completly agree with the idea to reduce mega pixels though... most P&S camera users will never need more than 3-4MP... that will definitely help to get less noisy images.
