It did things that my Smartphone still can't today.
Scribble "Dinner Mary tomorrow" and it would create an appointment, probably with the right person, at about the right time.
What killed it wasn't the design, it was the lack of sync, even with Apple's own desktop PIM. Then along came Palm Pilot which at first wouldn't do much except sync with Outlook, and we suddenly found out what people really wanted.
