Vote was to kill immigration bill - nothing to do with IDs
The vote was a procedural motion to kill the immigration bill, nothing to do with REAL ID even though that was the amendment being considered. Look at how many members switched their vote during the roll call. Look at how Jeff Sessions, a REAL ID supporter but opponent of the immigration bill, voted. The claims in this article don't add up. Unfortunately this business about 'not tabling the amendment' and 'invoking cloture' is difficult for non-DC types to follow, but the journalist in this case knows better and is playing off of that confusion.
