Remember though, that even with this technology, companies will have to go to YouTube/Google and tell them that they are the copyright holders who own the rights to the material identified. It doesn't change the inherent complaint, that somehow YouTube should automatically know that the material is copyrighted somehow in advance. It does help in that once a piece of footage is identified (if the technology ever really works), it would stay identified and be taken down automatically. But this isn't a panacea for all of the IP issues raised by YouTube and our currently broken copyright system.
