I wish the US federal and state governments would wake up and give more incentives/tax breaks for alternative fuel & power generation. Then, more people could afford alternative fuel vehicles. Plus, more people could then implement solar shingls on their houses, and take more small but helpful steps.

Granted, I cannot hope to generate all my own power needs based upon my current constraints, but if I could afford solar shingles for my house and garage roofs, then I could take less from the grid. If I could also get a hybrid car or alternative fuel car, then I could depend less on foreign oil and fossil fuels in general.

I fear that it will take some sort of catastrophe for most people in the US to wake up. For me, it's not about global warming - it's about being more self-sufficient and national security. Iran has less influence on me if I need less of their oil. Simple enough.
