I dunno about your ideas about thinking . . .
Umm, I think these people aren't thinking enough - IMHO, thinking about it shows how silly it really is - colors simply don't convey enough information for a whole alphabet, especially when considering that colors close to each other can be confusing, and that it's horrible for color blind people.

Personally, I don't think it's possible to "think too much" unless there's a time constraint. It's not thinking enough that is, IMHO, the problem.

"Just because you can do it, it's not necessarily a good idea to actually do it."

This I can agree with. Just because you can do something differently doesn't mean it's beneficial.
