I truly hope
that someday Microsoft builds an OS as secure as Linux is perceived to be today. Then we'll see just how safe the internet is and how many of these bots and viruses go away.

My guess is it won't make all that much difference. Most viruses today depend more on social engineering then security flaws, and there will always be holes for the bot writers to exploit, no matter what OS they decide to go after.
