As far as I know...
Yahoo will own the patent and copyright on the name but the system can be used royalty and license free. Not sure if they can change the license at a later date though...

Seems like a fair proposal - perhaps this one and MS's proposal could somehow be the answer we've all been looking for?

Only issue I see is that it won't stop viruses from spreading, as they get sent from legitimate e-mail accounts in most cases.
