Complete agreement!
I've got about a dozen of these damn 'incandescent replacement' bulbs in the house and have found that they are far more expensive than the regular incandescents and burn out about four times as often. They come on slow (like a thirty second to a couple minute dimmer turning on) and they will often just suddenly not turn on anymore. This is an improvement? NOT!

So our government wants to make a working technology 'go away' to be replaced by a more toxic, expensive and shorter lifetime technology. Typical, they've been bought by some supplier again, like so many times in the past.

I will say, other than how often LED bulbs get burned out by power spikes (commonly the cause of most failures) I'd rather have LED if they could get the costs and reliability there. If the manufacturers of lighting alternatives could figure out how to condition the power well enough to not have them zap so very often (more often than the incandescents do) then I'd switch to the more efficient type as soon as I could afford them.
