Agreed, for the most part - but I prefer electric car to light rail
Agree for the most part, except for light rail:

"Light rail can replace automobiles when possible; light rail runs on electricity."

Problem is, light rail doesn't go everywhere you want it to go. It may be good for going to work, but not good for visiting relatives or going on vacation.

IMHO, the electric car (or plug in hybrid for long trips) is a lot more promising, since it isn't limited by where the tracks go, and retains the same benefits as light rail.

"Make appliances so when they are OFF they do not use any energy."

Totally agree! Flash memory is quite cheap now. Dump it all in memory and turn the thing OFF. No more "standby" lights on my TV, please!

Windows XP users: Use Hibernate instead of Sleep. It's still fairly fast, and it saves more energy.

"It's time for optimism and possibilties. Not doom and gloom."

Totally agree happy.
