How would this work?
Okay, they look at their top 100 viewed videos each day. How would they know who owns the copyright, and whether the videos were posted with or without the permission of the copyright holder? For example, Jonathan Coulton's video for his song "Code Monkey" was in the number 1 spot on YouTube a few weeks back. It was released under a Creative Commons license. How would YouTube's owners know the difference between this and a video of a song with different licensing terms? How would they know the difference between a promotional video put online by a record/movie company and a bootlegged scene?

How do you propose YouTube determine the copyright status of these videos?
