Sadly, They Don't Build Them Like That Now
They don't. Anyone who has worked in an office of LaserJet 5L, 6L, and 1100 printers knows of the seperator pad flaws on these machines. The pads dry out and become rigid or brittle. We had some HP 1100 printers with under 5000 page prints that started taking multiple sheet feeds and jams, yet the printer was rated for a lifetime of 50,000 prints! HP eventually offered a free pad replacement kit for this factory defect. Kits were available for LaserJet 6L or LaserJet 1100, but NOT LaserJet 5L.
