I do most seriously doubt
that Microsoft's earnings report will be anything other then good. Love them or hate them, there is no denying that the do manufacture competent product lines and do continue to earn money.

As for Death for Microsoft Sql Server, surelly would not the quote The report of my death is an exaggeration as
I do also find myself disagreeing as SQL Server will not suffer as a result of this. Many like our company have taken notice of SQL server and purchased it straight out as it is an easily manageable database, (without the exurbanite cost associated with Oracle), that integrates with our other software quite readily. I would suppose that is a major factor in sales growth.

I read more into this as IBM's inability to create a viable alternative to MS SQL that is targeted towards those that use MS SQL.

The company occupying the floors above ours just recently switched to MS SQL from MYSQL as it did not integrate as easily with their existing software as they were led to believe, though I would hold the sales company to blame as opposed to MYSQL on an issue like that.
