I didn't say that Intel will lose - just that news of AMD's death is rather preliminary.
I don't think that AMD is going to go bankrupt - they may be forced to scale back and cut losses, but I doubt they will be forced to stop their operations entirely.
And IMHO manufacturing and design are closely related - the manufacturing process affects chip design, and vice versa. Getting the most out of a microchip involves a lot of research in both manufacturing and design.
"AMD has not yet announced anything significant for the desktop while . . ."
All that really means is that AMD's plans aren't ready for announcement yet. It doesn't mean they don't have any plans.
