AMD posts bigger-than-expected quarterly loss

?: What's the OS got to do with it? For laptops (which are increasingly popular), the Intel CPUs chew up less power. For desktops and servers, AMD has its advantages but doesn't really have that large a share in the desktop market. How many brand name PCs do you see with an AMD in them? People may select AMD for high performance clusters but that would be a few thousand (or tens of thousands), not the millions volume sales of desktop CPUs. Most people after a desktop PC wouldn't know the difference between an AMD and Intel chip - and on the rare occasion that they do, the difference probably doesn't matter, so there is no real driving force for your average Joe to choose AMD.; Posted by: zoroaster Posted on: 04/20/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
