Government drops cone of silence
"It's a giant plastic shield that decends over the whole country, thus protecting it from danger," said Homeland Defense spokeschick Bubbles McConnifer at a press conference at the top of the Washington Monument. "It also nullifies all sound. If the terrorists can't hear each other, they can't plot or carry out terrorist acts."

"However, can't they still write notes to one another?" asked Playboy reporter Ken Musgrave, desperately clinging to a frayed rope.

"Um..." said Bubbles.

"Or even sign languange or, oops, AAAAaaaaa....?" added Hustler reporter Ken Perlin just before falling to his certain death.

"Um, yeeeah..." said Bubbles. "Well, we have this plan for this big sun shield. One of out crack researchers, Dr. Montgomery Burns, has proposed-"

"What is your official statement on the dismal state of the 'new' ZDNet Talkback interface?" asked D-Cup reporter Darwyn Peachey who, for some reason, was able to levitate in the air.

At this point, Bubbles broke down into sobs and wandered away from the press conference by rappelling down the side of the monument. The reporters rappelled after her, waving $20 bills for lap dances.
