Good education has very little to do with owning a computer

Good education has very little to do with owning a computer. I was born in China in the worst of conditions and I learned enough math in the first two grades to last me until the sixth grade in the USA. Learning math and language and the other basics have nothing to do with having a computer.

This whole idea that you have to stick a laptop in every child's hands if fundamentally wrong. I'm one of the biggest computer geeks in the world but I spend good money every month putting my daughter in to a school where they DON'T have any computers in the classroom. There's no substitute from learning from a book and drawing on some physical paper. The idea that all our education problems are due to lack of funding and lack of computers is just plain wrong. Good computer literacy can be achieved with a computer lab and you only need 1 computer for every 10 students in the school and they can rotate their time on the computer. You do not need a computer to assist in every other subject matter and the computer may even be detrimental because it?s too much of a distraction.
