Not so sure about that
It takes huge amounts of time to patch those Windows servers. Mainly because you have server farms due to Windows servers not liking more than one app on them at time. So you have 50 server apps on 50 servers.

Now on a sun server you 1 or 2 servers for 50 apps. So you patch only 1 or 2 servers.

Now you can't fully blame Microsoft for this because they are only partially to blame. The big blame here lies on the third party software vendors who design software that won't play nice with other software.
