It would help if uncle Billy would hold off on the details a few months and just term the update patches absolutely critical.

I disagree. Exploits are made by reverse-engineering patches or info from other sources (like the people who actaully find the vulerabilities), not by what Microosft discloses about the vulerability.

Disclosing the problem to users is the proper thing to do, as workarounds can be made in most cases.
