The real lesson to be learned....
...apply the patches immediately upon release...PERIOD. It would help if uncle Billy would hold off on the details a few months and just term the update patches absolutely critical.

Can you really take the chance on leaving that gaping swiss cheese hole open anyway? If you do, you then deserve it when a German 18 yr. old walks through w/ something like Sasser.

Gee, none of my machines or my regular customers machines recieved Sasser, though I did repair 2 that were not regular customers @ the time back in February (it was Sasser as I recently ran the removal tool on them and it found it on both), I closed the DCOM & RPC ports back then and solved the constant reboot problem to put them back in service till we found out what it was and kept them offline). Sasser was so much like Blaster it wasn't funny, but Blaster's tools & patches didn't affect it.

When a patch is released, apply the patch or risk the wrath of the worms & viruses. That is all!
