Define 'qualified', which seems to be synonymous with
'willing to take really low pay because unlike Americans, my people CAN live on those wages, and like kings too.'

Indeed, since when do $10/hr jobs that require a Bachelors degree sets the standard? And how can anyone live on that, never mind paying back all that student debt?! (TCO and ROI - it's not for executives anymore. Real people have to live by them too.)

or those with said degree, or higher ones, who lose their jobs as well, and not due to any "poor performance" concerns - some of which seem to crop up out of nowhere for some long-term employees?

It's icing on the cake when c*****t c**y and other places fire long-time, high-performing staff but at the same time 'generously' offer to re-hire them - at grossly reduced wages! That is not 'loyalty' by any measure, and loyalty is a good factor in getting superior productivity. I hope those workers are able to find something better.

And I'll wait to cheer Bill Gates until he does something more substantial regarding the US school systems... Until then, he can keep buying more Apple stock while his buddy Steve Jobs buys more Microsoft stock (and complain about America's school system as well! It's the vogue thing to do right now, woohoo!!)

And back to this "big problem" of how H1Bs compensate for the "lack of qualified US workers", will these H1Bs stay in America - or get shipped back to their home countries once their work here is done? And will they continue to do the same work once shipped back? That is unethical as well.
