US makes laws for the rest of the online world??
The arrogance is actually unsuprising. Of course American congress thinks it is divinely invested with the power to decide how the entire world interacts with the internet. As for defining Spyware as any application which transmits personal information - Windows would immediately be illegal. Which would actually be a good thing. Getting cash-strapped kids to dob their script-kiddie mates in for a reward, how very Microsoft. Meanwhile their inherently flawed and viral prone software continues to be expensively available only to those who click "I Accept" to a End User Licensing Agreement which absolves Microsoft of any and all responsibility (or incentive) to do something about their substandard pap.

Luckily, Oopen Source is reaching a quantum level after which no amount of Redmond cash thrown at PR agencies will make any more difference.
