Oh clueless one...
Windows and Office. Period? Riiiiiight.... Let's see, Windows Server (not the Windows you were referring to) is a multi-billion dollar/year business. As is SQL Server. As is Exchange Server. All highly profitable. SQL Server alone would be one of the largets software companies in the world...and one of the most profitable. Even MSN is generating close to $1 Billion/year although not a big money maker. Calling Microsoft a one-trick pony is dumb.

Google is a great company. In search. Even the much touted Gmail is a distant laggard in mail. What else do they have that is a big success? Oh yeah...You Tube which they over-paid for. I admire Google for two reasons. One, they came up with great search algorithms. Two, they were the first company in the world to build a huge business on online advertising. Kudos to them. Let's see if they can extend that success in another area. More important to them, let's see how long they can maintain their huge lead in search. Eventually others including Microsoft will deliver search results that are as good or better. If Google's brand is storng enough to keep people using it even after there are better options then they'll be truly successful. Ironic, huh?
