Sorry, but he (Balmer) is full of it. As to the reference about Google employees, they are just trying to make work fun for people. I bet most of them enjoy comming to work (Not just to make money). When people are happy and content, they tend to be more productive, and the work is a higher quality. Sounds more like Balmer is worried about his own job security!
