I read the complaint how unfounded
I am not one to usually get involved in commenting on something like this and I am definitely not from Iowa, but GEEZE.. How unfounded can a complaint get.

Just because a PC comes with Microsoft operating system software on it doesn't mean you can't wipe it out and put whatever you want on it.

There are a number of free operating systems and office suites out there that will do just what they ask that they could have put on that computer, anything from BeOS to Linux and of course OpenOffice, or AbiWord or whatever. No one forced them to use the Microsoft product or buy a PC with Microsoft stuff pre-installed. PCs can still be purchased most places with no operating system or software at all.

I think they are picking on Microsoft unjustly. Microsoft didn't say they had to use their products at all. I can't believe Microsoft settled. It might have been cheaper to do and keep more people happy but really where is justice served here?

I never believed the people crying "monopoly" were right to do so in the first place, because there are always opportunities to use other hardware and software. Whether it's a Mac, or something else.. I used an Amiga for years before moving to PCs.. Microsoft nor Apple ever stopped me from using either.

Choice is something we have in this country thanks to the constitution and democracy.
