Didn't we all have the ability to stop using Microsoft and use FREE SOFTWARE!
How can they be labeled a monopoly if anyone can download and install a free copy of Linux? What about OPEN OFFICE?
Power companies have a monopoly because we all "need" power, and if there is only one company servicing an area, they can raise their rates higher and higher...
But no one is required to run MS operating systems or their office software.
Sure most people do...sure most governement or private businesses use those formats...so yeah, we are leaned towards those formats, but no one made them choose that software.
This sounds like a lot of people were looking for EASY money.
And if they really cared, they should have used free software.
