Small benifit vs big loss
Sure free promotion is good but really it's a small benifit. The loss comes in that YouTube has the site. Now if Viacom has thier own site where they allow posters to post ViaCom conntent then ViaCom gets the add revenue plus the promotion. That's a much bigger piece of the pie than just free promotion where Google gets the ad revenue.
