Dings the Corporate Model
In a conversation I had with a friend of mine, he estimated that Jobs was worth 25% of the value of Apple, which is why they would not let him go if they didn't have to. He's likely the best CEO out there today, and without him, Apple is just another corporation. He was remarked a child prodigy. He is worth the money he has. He is worth more than the money he has. With the corporate model, capital drains any performer's value from his returns. There's always somebody leeching off him. Capitalism, by nature, is the enemy of a merited guy like Steve Jobs, and corporations could only cramp his style. Vision is not free, and vision is not cheap. If a corporation could more easily extort vision from people, it would. The underlying problem here is money is the enemy of merit, and vision is the entrepreneur's prized meritable quality.
