Certification leads to certification farms.

You memorize all possible answers to the 200 questions that have been presented on the exams and are certified but absolutely useless.

Two years after you get the certification, unless you are actually doing the work, the certification is absolutely useless.

If I wanted to test a MSCE for my company, I would present him or her with a room with 5 computers with Win2000 and WinXP install disks (or linux if that was my bag), a laser printer, a blade server and an internet access connection and say I would measure how long it took them to get it all working. The ones who took the least time, that were likable would be who I would hire.
