Microsoft has two cash cows Windows and Office. Nothing else brings the bacon home like these two.
I'm not saying that WindowsCE, SQLserver, Windows server, Xbox360, Zune are rubbish, they are passable products.
None of them have proved to be the money tree that Windows and Office have been.
Microsoft's strategic policy of diversifying is definitely a failure from the viewpoint of current financial performance.
Most corporations are one-product wonders despite massive investment by all to move into new markets:
Xerox, Coca-Cola etc.
