Wiretaps VS manditory storage...
The government already has the power to wiretap or obtain a warrant for any record that is maintained. Yes, they can go to the phone company and obtain a record of the calls you've made, because the phone company stores that information for billing purposes.

They can ALREADY do the same with ISPs.

However, they don't make phone companies record EVERY call that goes over the wire.

You can be a perfectly law-abiding citizen and not like the idea of having sensitive data archived, and for good reason! One word: hackers.
