I must disagree.

"This proposed law is a serious threat to the few remaining shreds of privacy we have".

Bull. All it does is make sure the data is still there so that when police do get a warrant, they can actually get the data. I think this is wonderful, because all anonomyzing services do (in general) is allow terrorists and other criminals to get away with anything.

Actually, this law will balanace things out nicely. Things like "Anonymizer" will STILL prevent UNAUTHORIZED people (meaning ANYONE on the Internet) from tracing your IP address, which can be done now by anyone with basic networking skills...

...while at the same time making them subject to THE SAME LAWS THAT ALREADY EXIST FOR EVERY NON-INTERNET BUSINESS (like credit-card and phone companies)...i.e., they must turn over info to police/FBI/what have you when served with a warrant.

Perfect balance of privacy and the ability to prosecute crimes. I live in the U.S.
