Pay? Of Course Not
The government already requires all of us, businesses and individuals, to retain, store, and produce volumes of information that we otherwise would have no reason to retain. It never has paid anyone for this and it never will. My estimate is that in my primary accounting function, 60% of my salary goes to support this information collection, codification, and storage solely to make various governments happy. 40% - 60% of this information has no valid business use.
