I think that his point was...
that the fairly new laws that allow people to own non-tangible ideas (c) even after they have permeated the public is the problem. There is no such thing as "Intellectual Property". It doesn't actually exist, it was a concept that was made up very recently. The theory was that these new laws would encourage innovation by protecting the innovators. They did for a short time. Unfortunately they soon locked down so much that they no longer served that function. They also generated so much money that they was incentive to added to them with the digital millennium copyright acts etc. to get even more money. These laws are now have the opposite effect that they were originally intended for and need a major overhaul for the good of everyone. Just look at the RIAA and it's struggle with consumers. Whichever side you weigh in on, the system as it is doesn't work and hurts what it was originally intended to protect. I could have misread or misunderstood his post, but I think he is against the type of ownership and laws that you are describing. Cheers.
