Thats just plain ignorant. Cut off their fingers? While we are at it, why not remove their eyes so they cant watch DVD's someone else has ripped or VHS tapes that have been recorded off movie rental's! Seriously, this is a load of crap. So what if they downloaded a few movies/songs/programs? Im in college and I know that I can't afford things like Photoshop Pro yet its needed for my classes. Sure, I might be able to afford it "when I get a job", but Ive already got one and I can't afford it. Get over it RIAA. If you ask ANYONE who downloads music (any sensible person with even minor intelligence) they will tell you that downloading songs that you like will only lead them to buying CD's of the artist.
