It really is about control.
Sony knew what they were doing right from the beginning ... they decided to go
ahead with it .... because they can afford to lose a some face and deal with the
consequences. Their agenda was not about sales but precisely about seeing what
happens. This is Sony's first atom-bomb test on the ground.
Sony realized that somebody had to push DRM beyond crazy as means of
control ... so why not Sony doing it themselves!
Sony was NOT stupid to cause such a fiasco in the first place.
It was really a psychological and behavioral experiment on the entire public --
consumer and private. What better way to study the public's real reaction.
This is valuable information to Sony. It didn't really cost them all that much to
conduct such real experiment and to see what happens.
Now Sony has MORE consumer/market-behavior information/data than any other
corporation. This gives Sony the upper-hand now .... as they will know how to
come up with better ways to spread their control wider with a tighter grasp by
their stronger fist. They want to get there first before anybody else does. - Posted by: Mix Coke Posted on: 12/21/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
