if they knew...
I think most people don't know what DRM is at all, they don't know that it exists when you buy something at iTunes, and they only find out once they need to reinstall a systems. Most people only care about cheap and convenient stuff. iTunes et all, as well as automatically installing the Sony player, are very convinient. Of course, only for some short period of time. But then it's too late.
