I talked to the former product manager for yahoo's debunked payment system. He acknowledge that he was fresh out of college, didn't know what product marketing was, and he was unable to tell me what the long term objective of the product was.
The product failed. It turns out Yahoo didn't have a serious marketing plan to compete with PayPal and that the people involved were not ebay or paypal users, so they didn't know what they were doing when they embarked on a serious venture.
I find their management arrogant (like ebay/paypal), don't use their search engine, and their web site is probably the most ugly on the Internet. Their chat and video freeze up my PC.
