The EU lawsuit wasn't just about Real
..truth is it has to do with anyone in the future trying to do something new....

That's right. Monti wants veto power over the research department in Redmond.
Nothing like a pol's ego feeding.

..Once upon a time there was a company that made money from producing a web browser, now that company is irrelevant because MS included a browser in the OS. Even worse...

I believe you can still pay for a browser if you look hard enough. Good luck.
You also used to have to pay for your TCP/IP stack but now its part of all OSes.
Damn progress.

So if getting something for free is so bad, do you think Linux should be shut down?
Where's Monti when you need him.

..most users are lazy and don't understand the difference between one product to the other....

Agreed.
But then again most of the diffrences between the products are very superficial.
Coke or Pepsi.

..The IE browser is slow non-standards compliant bloat ware yet it is the most popular....

Sickening isn't it.
BTW, that for profit company you mentioned above, did they produce a slow non compliant product too?
See what happened to them.

..it's that I don't want to get stuck with WMP and have it never get better like IE..

Choice is good.
There are plenty of media players out there. Feel free.
Now browsers.
There are other browsers out there.
Mozilla is setting the pace.
MS are responding and I believe will offer tabbed browsing etc in the futue (you of course can get them right now off 3rd parties but MS don't 'integrate' these features into the browser).

That's how markets usually respond.
Of course Monti has to OK all of the above so we'll have to wait until he's ready.

Ciao.

Joe
