REAL... another self inflicted victim
Real Networks at one time had the world by the tail... massive market share, a free player, making money on the production side. Then they got greedy and wanted to make more money by charging for the player. That didn't work so they loaded (an bloated) their player with ad/spyware. Now the consumers (us) are so ticked off at Real that they don't care if they sink or swim.

Then Glaser pulls the stunt of trying to blackmail Jobs? OH PLEASE!! Jobs saw through this like it was saran-wrap. The entire industry knows that Real & MS have had a rocky relationship, including several lawsuits. It wouldn't surprise me if there was "Anti-Real" code in Windows, ala DR-DOS.

Two products that have done well by not following this formula are Acrobat & Quicktime. They started out with the same formula as Real, but stuck to this formula BECAUSE IT WORKS! Neither of these products have made MS scale money, but I'd bet they are both nice little profit centers for Adobe & Apple.

TO ALL SOFTWARE EXECS: CONCENTRATE ON THE PRODUCT . MAKE IT THE BEST IT CAN BE. AFTER YOU DO THAT, THEN THE PROFIT WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF.
