These people aren't stupid people
The terrorists are not stupid. Do you really think that they sit around in their apartment all day, waiting for the phone to ring so they can go blow something up?

They act like regular people. They have a warped sense of what is right and are willing to die and kill for that, but day-in and day-out, they do the same things that you do.

They go to college, to work, go to PTA meetings, have lunch with their friends.

If you recall, the terrorists were in the country for a long time before 9/11. Some were in colleges in the US.

I work at a large firm that has a whole department dedicated to testing cyber-security (Other companies hire us to try to hack them). I'm not certain what amount of background testing goes into hiring, but I'm sure that it's possible that "terrorists" get hired.

As you may or may not know, you can't ask about religion or ideologies in an interview.

So, that being said. I do believe that financial institutions may be ready for an attack, and I don't know how terrorists would DoS them. That would usually take a virus with lots of drone machines, but either way, I wouldn't discredit a determined "hacker" from causing some level of damage or disturbance.
