Oh Yes . . .
let's drive up energy prices, put thousands out of work and trash the American economy because environmentalists are predicting disaster.

After all these are the same folks who have always been right before:

We all clearly remember the worldwide famines that sweep the planet in the 80s as the world population climbed toward and finally hit 5 billion. Don?t remember the famine? Do you remember the famine predictions that were all the talk at the first Earth Day in 1970?.

Or how about that ice age that was inevitable, or so we were told in the 70s. Remember how every winter storm was ?the worst anyone around here can recall?, that was pretty scary?

Of course those were only a couple of the ?inevitable disasters? we have somehow managed to survive. There was also running out of oil by 1990, global deforestation and the extinction of 70 - 80% of all animal species by the 2000; to say nothing of my personal favorite urban dwellers in gas masks.

Global Warming is the latest in a long line of reasons why Americans must surrender their freedoms and lifestyle to the collective good. The latest imminent disaster that will destroy the world unless Americans allow themselves to be herded into being good socialists, trade their personal vehicles for public transportation, trade their single family dwellings for high density housing, trade their freedom for salvation from inevitable global disaster.
