Copyright, Copying...
1. Your previous post asserts (although that may be too strong a word for your rant) that copyright is useless to protect code since it would not prevent copying;
2. I assume (since it is unmentioned) that this copying is bad because it devalues the original product, thereby reducing the incentive to purchase the original.

But what about the fashion industry? It has copyrights, which designer labels do assert, and yet the indusrty is rife with copying of designs, sometimes as soon as they come down the catwalk (sometimes even well before). But the major labels do make a heathy profit. There still seems to be enough monetary incentive to come back to the catwalk year after year. It hardly seems to me that people are leaving the fashion industry in droves simply because a design can be copied.

Why should it be worse for software?
