Freedom for the consumer
If you get a patent you get credit for an idea. This should not prevent someone else from improving and manufacturing a product for the consumer or personal use. There are probably millions who could improve ideas if it wasn't illegal to do so.I can take apart new items, figure out how they work, improve on them perhaps, and only lose warranty. With software it is illegal. That doesn't make sense. Other than recognition for coming up with an idea I don't think a person should profit for the idea but profit for its utilization. The one who utilizes an idea the best should profit the most. Software should be like a game where the rules can be adapted by anyone for better utilization. The best set of rules could then become the standard for competitions. Just think how much farther we could have advanced without the restrictions of patents.
