Are You A Programmer?

I would agree that most software piggybacks on previous work. But to exclude an entire industry from patent protection is absurd.

Patents should be based on the "AMOUNT" of unique pioneering thought and work to distinguish itself. It we take your idea, soon everything will have already been invented because all combinations and variations are not patentable.

Most ideas are improvements on pre-existing work. You have to adjust your thinking as the creative arena evolves. Just because it wasn't doesn't mean it shouldn't. Reward people for just work, not a moments inspiration and their financial ability to rush to the patent office and then sit and troll for infringers.
