German school attack

A terrible incident, to be sure. As usual, however, gov't is roaming about looking to lay blame and determine causation.

Clearly the justice system is too slow in responding to the threat perceived BEFORE the incident. Why was the guy still out on the streets? Rather than address this, they want to restrict access to software. Let's extend this logic: to eliminate fraud we'll outlaw accounting software!

Blame: the guy with guns and bombs assaulting the school.
Causation: who knows!? I DO know that the move to carry virtual action into real-life violence entailed more than just exposure to strategy and games.

If the gov't rationalization is true, then we should have lots of soldiers and police storming civilian buildings doing damage. Something went wrong here. The mix is the problem, not just one element.
